McIntosh’s MR77 is considered by many to be one of the best FM tuners ever made. The MR 77 features many innovations and design aspects that filter and pull in stations cleanly and with real dynamics. As a superheterodyne radio receiver, the incoming signal is mixed with that of a local oscillator to produce an intermediate frequency (IF) that is lower than that of the carrier frequency of the received signal. There are several reasons for doing this. A really big one is that the lower value of this IF makes it easier to filter out nearby sources of interference.
It's tested and working nicely. Overall it's clean and fully operational. A nice collector piece.
As an authorized McIntosh service center we have our techs thoroughly clean all of the pots, controls and switches. All components are tested and verified to either be within spec, or they are replaced.
