The Vertere DG-1 Dynamic Groove Record Player is Vertere’s most accessible turntable design, engineered to combine exceptional analog performance with simplified setup and operation. Despite its approachable positioning within the Vertere lineup, the DG-1 incorporates many of the company’s most innovative engineering concepts, resulting in a highly refined vinyl playback system focused on precision, low resonance behavior, and musical engagement.

Every element of the DG-1 has been carefully optimized to reduce unwanted vibration, improve rotational stability, and preserve delicate cartridge signal integrity. From its precision synchronous motor and advanced microprocessor-controlled drive system to its unique flat-profile tonearm and innovative thread bearing architecture, the DG-1 delivers a distinctly sophisticated approach to high-performance vinyl playback.

THE MOTOR

The DG-1 utilizes a 24-pole Precision Synchronous motor individually tuned to minimize operational noise and vibration. Controlled by circuitry derived from Vertere’s flagship RG-1 Reference Motor Drive, the system incorporates a single microprocessor-controlled PCB that is both precision addressable during manufacture and programmable for future upgrades. An offboard power supply further isolates unwanted electrical interference while copper and stainless steel shielding protect the sensitive electronics from noise contamination.

THE PLATTER

Drive to the platter is transferred through a precision-machined aluminium alloy pulley and bespoke silicone rubber drive belt designed for exceptional smoothness and durability. Electronic speed selection is conveniently controlled via a rear-mounted switch, eliminating the need for manual belt repositioning. The platter itself is precision-machined aluminium alloy with a bonded PETG record interface mat on the surface, while a cork, Neoprene, and nitrile bonded resonance control disc underneath minimizes unwanted platter resonance.

THE BEARING

The DG-1 platter rotates on a highly polished stainless steel spindle riding within a precision bearing housing utilizing a super precision tungsten carbide ball. This low-maintenance design eliminates the need for complex lubrication regimes while maintaining the smooth rotational accuracy required for precise vinyl playback performance.

THE TONEARM

The DG-1 Groove Runner tonearm features a uniquely Vertere flat-profile design rather than a conventional tube architecture. This three-layer non-resonant tonearm beam minimizes resonance and ringing effects commonly associated with traditional tonearm tubes. Signal transmission is handled via a flexible gold-plated PCB integrated directly into the tonearm structure, providing a continuous one-piece signal path from the cartridge connections to the output terminals.

THE THREAD BEARINGS

Instead of conventional bearing assemblies, the DG-1 employs an innovative thread-based bearing system utilizing twisted nylon threads for both horizontal and vertical tonearm movement. These ultra-light thread bearings exhibit virtually no stiction, provide silent operation, and deliver natural self-damping characteristics for highly precise tonearm movement and exceptional tracking performance.

THE PLINTH

The DG-1 plinth utilizes a sophisticated three-layer acrylic sandwich construction combining non-resonant cast acrylic with silicone rubber isolation between the plinth and platter assembly. The internally illuminated design integrates the speed indicator, control button, and user-selectable standby mood lighting into a clean, modern aesthetic. The complete assembly is supported by a rigid steel chassis with three adjustable feet and includes a non-resonant acrylic dustcover with integrated hinges for a sleek appearance.
