That being said, the Thiel CS3.6 was one of the most exciting speakers of the 90’s. It is the 6th generation of this speaker design for Thiel and they got really good at getting it right. This is a pair that has been kept in excellent condition in a non-smoking, pet free home. After a listen to them we looked up a few reviews. Our ears were not lying. The complex crossover network that Thiel is known for as well as the excellent cabinet design, taking into consideration timing and coherence, really sounded fantastic. The cabinet is extremely well braced and the mid-range even has its own internal sealed cabinet. This helps to produce silky smooth and at the same time very revealing sound. These really are high-end speakers. I’d have to compare the sound to current Pro-Ac’s in the $6000-$8000 range. They easily approach Electrostatics in their ability to reproduce transient details, avoid time smear and reproduce musical details, yet at the same time play cleanly to 27 Hz! An Absolute Sound reviewer said about the CS3.6’s, "This is one of the finest sounding loudspeakers that I have heard at any price... a landmark in the effort to provide outstanding high-end speaker performance at a real world price."
Robert Harley said of the 3.6’s, "I can say without reservation that the Thiel CS3.6 is a remarkable loudspeaker".

The cabinets are really in excellent condition for the age. The real wood finish is beautiful. The drivers are very good as well. All surrounds are solid with no wear or degradation. The grills are clean with just a couple small piques on the edges. No broken pins. Again, surprisingly great condition for the age of the speakers.
