McIntosh - MC2205 - Stereo Power Amplifier - Serviced

The McIntosh MC2205 is a classic solid-state stereo power amplifier from one of McIntosh's most recognizable eras. Delivering 200 watts per channel in stereo, the MC2205 uses McIntosh Autoformers to provide its rated output across a wide range of speaker impedances. It can also be configured for mono operation, delivering 400 watts of continuous power.

The MC2205 was the first McIntosh amplifier to incorporate the company's renowned Power Guard circuitry, designed to prevent amplifier clipping while allowing the amplifier to deliver its maximum usable power. It also features Sentry Monitor protection, illuminated dual power-output meters, selectable input sensitivity, independent gain controls, and the unmistakable McIntosh glass front panel.

This MC2205 has been professionally serviced by an authorized McIntosh service center. All lamps were replaced with equivalent original parts, all potentiometers, switches, and connections were cleaned, and critical operating points and components were inspected and replaced where necessary. A new speaker selector switch was also installed. The amplifier bias was properly set and the unit was bench tested under load following service. It is ready to be put back into service and enjoyed for years to come.
