The Rega Planar 8 Turntable is a reference-level belt-drive vinyl playback system inspired directly by Rega’s ultimate Naiad turntable project. Engineered to deliver exceptional detail retrieval, ultra-low resonance behavior, and uncompromising rotational accuracy, the Planar 8 incorporates advanced materials and precision engineering solutions designed to extract the maximum amount of information from every record.

At the core of the Planar 8 is an ultra-lightweight skeletal plinth constructed using Tancast 8 polyurethane foam core material originally developed for the aerospace industry. This advanced structure is sandwiched between dual layers of High Pressure Laminate (HPL) to create a platform that is both lighter and more rigid than the previous RP8 design. Rega’s advanced double brace technology further strengthens the assembly between the tonearm mounting and central hub bearing for maximum rigidity and minimal energy transfer.

The Planar 8 also incorporates the hand-assembled RB880 precision tonearm, a custom-matched Neo MK2 PSU, advanced low-vibration 24V motor system, and a triple-layer float glass platter engineered for maximum flywheel effect and rotational stability. Combined with the Reference EBLT drive belt, machined aluminium sub-platter, and advanced DSP-controlled power supply technology, the Planar 8 delivers true reference-grade analog performance for the most demanding vinyl enthusiasts.
